Advantages

Isolation from strong vibrations induced by earthquakes prevents items in a display case from falling or being damaged.
As the effect of seismic isolation is independent of the weight or shape of items, it can be applied to all manner of things.
Resonance is not generated through a full range of earthquake motions, and the effect of seismic isolation can be provided against small to large earthquakes.

The roller-type requires a smaller footprint (about 600 x 600 mm) than the wheel-type to provide a stable support for the display case.
A stable durable seismic isolation platform is always provided.
Low profile, compact system saves space.
Simple construction provides for easy maintenance.

Structure

CRS is a quake-absorbing table consisting of a roller pendulum structure, roller bearings, viscous shear damper, and a frame.

Roller Bearing
Roller bearings isolate major earthquake vibrations, prolong the oscillation period, and support the load.
This bearing consists of rollers and specially shaped rails which immitates the motion of a pendulum.
Therefore, the natural period of the whole system is determined independent of the weight of the object.
Horizontal displacement preventing mechanism attached to rollers and rails can offset the effects of shape or improper arrangement of displayed items.


Viscous shear damper
Viscous shear dampers, energy absorbers which use the shear resistance of a viscous fluid, restrict displacement induced by earthquakes and reduce vibration.
Rotational viscous dampers maintain stable performance by dissipating vibration energy as thermal energy. In addition, as it has no friction resistance, protection can be provided even against minute vibrations.

Function

Vibration of earthquake is reduced to moderate motion.
Roller bearings alleviate the strong shaking induced by earthquake, extend the oscillation period, and support the load.
It returns the load to the original position.
It returns the load to the original position with the restoring force of gravity after the earthquake.
Strong vibrations are dissipated.
Shear resistance of the viscous fluid in the rotational viscous damper absorbs earthquake energy and damps vibration.

Test

Effect of seismic isolation Test

In order to verify the effect of seismic isolation of CRS, a performance test was carried out with actual seismic records.
As a result, the response spectrum on a CRS is reduced dramatically from the earthquake input, demonstrating the excellent performance of this isolation system.
